Where to Begin?

Carrizo Gorge has continually been inundated with tunnel collapses and rock slides. This has made the area inaccessible to all except the most daring of hikers and mountain bikers. Those fit and brave enough to make the trek to Goat Canyon Trestle are rewarded with breathtaking views, railroad history, and the amazing engineering feat of the trestle itself.

However, walking along the all-but-abandoned railroad tracks is considered trespassing and is thus not only dangerous, but also illegal. It is therefore discouraged yet this has not stopped the dozens who have partaken in this adventure. Their exploits can be found in the numerous photos posted on their blog sites and videos uploaded to YouTube.

It is unclear when exactly Carrizo Gorge will see trains again, let alone excursion trains. There are many people who would love to see its rugged beauty for themselves, but are either not fit or brave enough to endure the dangers of hiking or biking there.

So what is to be done? Next
